Walk into the woods at dusk to see fireflies
A guided evening walk from Cesuna, with handmade lanterns, woodland sounds and fireflies after dark
For a few weeks at the beginning of summer, the meadows and woods around Cesuna become one of the best places on the Asiago Plateau province of Vicenza to look for fireflies after dark. Asiago Guide begins the evening at sunset with a small lantern making workshop, then leads the group into the forest as the light fades, listening for the scops owl, frogs and roe deer before searching the grass and woodland edges for fireflies. Sightings depend on temperature and weather, which is exactly why the experience is concentrated into such a short part of the year.

About
AN EASY NIGHT WALK FOR FAMILIES
The route is a loop starting directly from Cesuna, using short paved sections, mountain paths and unpaved roads. The organiser rates it 2 out of 5 for difficulty, with less than 200 metres of ascent and no exposed sections. It is recommended for adults and children over seven.
EIGHT SUMMERS OF FIREFLIES
The 2026 walk was the eighth edition of Lucciole per lanterne. The format has remained tied to the same short seasonal window because firefly activity cannot be guaranteed outside the right conditions. The guide combines the walk with local legends, traditions and scientific explanations about fireflies and the other animals encountered after dark.
FOR FAMILIES, AND NOT ONLY FOR CHILDREN
The activity is recommended for adults and children over seven. The route has less than 200 metres of ascent, no exposed sections and a difficulty rating of 2 out of 5. It starts directly from Cesuna and uses short paved sections, mountain paths and unpaved roads.
