Vicenza’s Cherry Focaccia and a Century of Baking

Founded in 1918, this Italian pastry shop makes naturally leavened cherry focaccia, handmade pastries and a sweet inspired by Vicenza’s famous living chess tradition.

Pasticceria Pigato has been part of the food culture of northern Vicenza since 1918. Located in Marostica, it is known for its handmade focaccia with Ciliegia di Marostica IGP, cherry puff pastries and regional sweets made with ingredients from the Vicenza foothills. [1][2]

ABOUT

There is more than one way to take Vicenza’s famous cherries home.

At Pasticceria Pigato, the local IGP cherries are baked into a traditional Veneto focaccia made with natural leavening, following a family recipe. The shop also makes cherry sfogliatine, delicate puff pastries prepared by hand, including a version with almonds. [1][2]

Look for the Pèca del Salbaneo, a local pastry bringing together three products of the Vicenza countryside: Ciliegia di Marostica IGP, Breganze Torcolato DOC wine and extra virgin olive oil from the Pedemontana del Grappa.

There are also Baci di Lionora, named after a character in the romantic legend behind Marostica’s famous living chess game. [3][4]
