WHY GO

At eleven on a Saturday night, there are worse things to be doing in Italy than choosing a piece of jewellery from the person who actually made it.

During Vicenza’s Notte Bianca, White Night, UNICO takes over Corso Fogazzaro with independent makers selected for original work in jewellery, fashion, illustration, objects for the home, accessories and creative reuse. On Saturday, the stalls stay open until midnight, while the rest of the historic centre continues with concerts, late dinners, bars and events until 2am.

It makes a very good alternative to the usual Italian souvenir hunt. What you find here has been designed and made by the person standing behind the table.

NO RESELLERS

UNICO is unusually strict about that point. Exhibitors apply to take part, with selection based on originality, research into materials and forms, and a recognisable creative project. Pieces must be made by the people selling them. Small collections and limited editions are allowed. Vintage, second hand goods and objects made by somebody else and simply resold are specifically excluded. Previous editions have brought makers to Vicenza from across Italy, with everything from material jewellery and independent tailoring to illustration, upcycled design and small objects for interiors.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT

The market is only one piece of Notte Bianca. In 2026, the three day programme spreads across Piazza dei Signori, Piazza Duomo, Piazza San Lorenzo, Piazza Castello, gardens and streets throughout the centre, with live music, food, museums, performances and late opening venues. So the useful itinerary is beautifully simple: UNICO before dinner, the historic centre after dark, then whatever is still playing when you come out.
