SUMMER APERITIVO AND EVENING VILLA TOURS

Villa Giusti Suman overlooks Zugliano in the hills north of Vicenza, Veneto, Italy. On selected summer evenings, you can explore its frescoed rooms and stay for drinks and music outside. The 2026 By Night programme combined hour long guided visits with aperitivo, beer and cicchetti, small savoury bites, followed by dance performances and musical entertainment. [1, 2] FAI, Italy’s heritage foundation, documents another appealing format here: its June 2025 evening began with visits to the interiors and continued with food, drinks and a DJ set until 22:30. The villa’s elevated position gave visitors a view over the surrounding countryside during one of the longest evenings of the year. [2]

AUTUMN BAROQUE CONCERTS

Autumn brings opportunities to hear live classical music in a historic Italian villa. On 3 October 2026, the Serenissime Dimore festival programmed A due voci e stromenti, “For two voices and instruments”, with the Crescere in Musica Baroque Ensemble. Soprano and tenor were accompanied by lute and theorbo, a large lute with an extended neck, in a programme centred on Barbara Strozzi, the seventeenth century Venetian composer. [3, 4] The announced setting was the villa’s Music Room, where painted women sing and play instruments among scenes of romance and enchantment. That is a detail to look for when choosing a concert here: the room belongs to the experience. [4, 5]

THE SORCERESS IN THE MUSIC ROOM

When your evening includes an interior visit, look for Armida, a sorceress, and Rinaldo, a knight, in her enchanted garden. Their story comes from Torquato Tasso’s epic Jerusalem Delivered, also the literary source for Rossini’s Armida, as documented by New York’s Metropolitan Opera. Above the painted scenes, a hand appears on the eastern wall, directing the viewer through the story according to the villa’s own guide. [5, 6]

CHRISTMAS AFTER SUNSET

Winter offers a different reason to visit: presepi, handcrafted Nativity scenes. The exhibition held from December 2025 into January 2026 had afternoon openings extending to 19:00 on weekdays and 18:30 at weekends, allowing a visit after sunset.
