VICENZA · ITALIAN COUNTRYSIDE HERITAGE

Visit a Restored Italian Farm Hamlet in Vicenza

An old rural courtyard, the forgotten crafts of silk and straw, and a guided visit among Vicenza's cherry orchards.

Borgo Stella is a restored rural hamlet in the northern hills of Vicenza, Italy. Once home to farming families who shared courtyards, stables and barns, it now welcomes visitors for guided tours exploring traditional Italian country life, straw weaving, silk production and the agricultural heritage of the Ciliegia di Marostica IGP landscape. ABOUT

Before Italian country houses became desirable holiday retreats, their courtyards were places of work.

At Borgo Stella, several families once lived around the same corte, sharing agricultural buildings and daily responsibilities. The restored hamlet tells the story of this communal rural life, with particular attention to two crafts that once helped support farming households: straw weaving and silkworm cultivation. [1] The guided visit takes place in Vallonara, in the cherry growing hills of Vicenza. It is organised by Col di Stella, an organic farming business that also produces olive oil, preserves and a particularly interesting cherry and mint jam. After the visit, you can enquire about stopping at its separate farm shop, where the family sells its organic products. [2]
