Where Bottega Veneta comes from
Founded in Vicenza in 1966, the Italian luxury house went from American Gigolo and Andy Warhol to a main atelier inside an eighteenth century villa nearby.
Bottega Veneta began in Vicenza in 1966. Its story later crossed New York, American Gigolo, Andy Warhol and decades of celebrity culture, while its main atelier remained close to its birthplace, inside an eighteenth century villa in the Vicenza countryside.

Bottega Veneta was founded in Vicenza in 1966. From Lauren Hutton wearing the house in American Gigolo to its relationship with Andy Warhol Studios, and later Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Kendall Jenner, Jacob Elordi, Margot Robbie and Charlize Theron, the name travelled far beyond the city where it began.
The Vicenza connection remains physical. Bottega Veneta’s main atelier is still in the province, at Montebello Vicentino.
THE ATELIER
The main atelier occupies an eighteenth century villa in the countryside at Montebello Vicentino.
Bottega Veneta restored the property while retaining more than 75 percent of the original materials. The atelier has held LEED Platinum certification since 2014 and includes 1,200 square metres of solar panels, rainwater recycling and ground source heating and cooling.
This is a working atelier. Public visits are not advertised.
THE ACCADEMY
Bottega Veneta also runs Accademia Labor et Ingenium between the Montebello atelier and its production site at Povolaro Dueville.
The programme brings master artisans together with employees, new hires and external students. Its annual training programme accepts 50 students and includes employment with Bottega Veneta on completion.

Montebello is a working atelier rather than a visitor attraction. The address is useful for understanding where Bottega Veneta still works in Vicenza, but public visits are not advertised. Academy Accademia Labor et Ingenium, professional craft training
