ITALIAN LIGHTING DESIGN · MADE IN VICENZA · ITALIAN LIGHTING · MOUTH BLOWN GLASS
The Italian lighting story behind Zaha Hadid Architects and 800 lamps in Dubai
A lighting company founded in the Vicenza area in 1982 reached more than 50 countries, international architecture studios and major hotel projects.
Vicenza is famous for Palladio, jewellery and ceramics. Less expected is its place in contemporary Italian lighting. Prandina was founded in the area in 1982 and built an international name around decorative lighting and mouth blown glass, with projects reaching luxury hotels, global companies and architecture studios including Zaha Hadid Architects. One Dubai development alone uses around 800 Prandina lamps.

About
MOUTH BLOWN GLASS / ZAHA HADID ARCHITECTS / 800 LIGHTS IN DUBAI
↓
In Bassano del Grappa, designer Sergio Prandina founded his lighting company in 1982, beginning a long exploration of mouth blown glass and contemporary light. Over the following decades, Prandina lamps travelled into projects in more than 50 countries and worked across residential, hospitality and contract interiors.
FROM VICENZA TO ZAHA HADID ARCHITECTS
Prandina worked with architecture and engineering practices including Zaha Hadid Architects, Ted Jacob Engineering, RDK Dubai and Parker International. Its international projects included hotels, retail spaces, offices and residences in Europe, the Middle East and beyond.
800 LIGHTS IN DUBAI
At Sensoria at FIVE Luxe in Dubai, around 800 Prandina lamps were specified for the project. The scale gives a useful measure of how far a lighting company born in the Vicenza area travelled from its original market.
THE GLASS CONNECTION
Mouth blown glass remained central to Prandina’s identity. The company describes it as a defining element of its decorative lighting, while collections developed with designers and architects combined glass, metal and contemporary lighting technology.
THE ARCHIVE
In June 2026 Prandina became part of Lym. The historic Prandina archive, with decades of work in lighting and artisanal glass, is now being developed within the Lym collection. Orders for the Prandina collection are scheduled to reopen in September 2026, with deliveries from January 2027.
Good to know before you go
There is currently no official Prandina factory tour or public visitor experience advertised in the Vicenza area. Prandina is now a Lym brand, and the official company contact is in Cordignano, Treviso. If you want to see Prandina lighting in person, check the current dealer network and confirm which collections are on display before travelling.
