On 22 October 2026, the Serbian National Theatre Ballet opens the theatre season in Bassano del Grappa, in the province of Vicenza, with three works by Belgian Colombian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. From Salvador Dalí’s surrealist imagination to a contemporary interpretation of flamenco, the evening brings international ballet to one of northern Italy’s cultural destinations.

Three Choreographies, Three Artistic Worlds

The programme, Da qualche parte fuori dal pianeta, brings together three distinct works by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. Bellezza illusoria draws inspiration from Salvador Dalí’s surrealist universe, exploring the relationship between illusion and beauty.

La Pioggia, meaning The Rain, takes nature and renewal as its central themes, with rain representing the possibility of a new beginning. Linea Recta revisits flamenco through contemporary ballet, reinterpreting its traditional movement vocabulary with an original choreographic approach.

From Frida Kahlo to Salvador Dalí

Annabelle Lopez Ochoa has created work for some of the world's most prominent ballet companies, including Dutch National Ballet, English National Ballet, New York City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet. Her production Frida, inspired by the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, was created for Dutch National Ballet in 2020. Her career also includes the 2019 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award, one of the major international distinctions in dance.

In Bassano del Grappa, the Serbian National Theatre Ballet, directed by Aja Jung, presents another encounter between contemporary choreography and the visual arts.
