A Former Milk Factory Becomes a New Cultural Destination

The city's former municipal dairy begins a new chapter with Illustri, the association behind Vicenza's international illustration festival, and a collective of creative and community organisations.

On 25 October 2026, La Centrale opens a new chapter in Vicenza's cultural life. Housed in the city's former municipal dairy on Via Giacomo Medici, the regenerated complex brings together contemporary illustration, exhibitions, workshops, music and community activities, led by Illustri and four local creative partners.

From Milk Factory to Cultural Space

A former municipal dairy is becoming one of Vicenza's new addresses for contemporary culture. La Centrale occupies a former industrial site at Via Giacomo Medici 96/A, with large rooms, glazed spaces and an outdoor courtyard designed to accommodate different activities.

The project combines contemporary art and illustration with a broader programme of workshops, music, creative production and community events. A café is also part of the planned facilities. The opening on 25 October marks the beginning of the venue's new cultural programme, with spaces and activities to be developed progressively.

The People Behind La Centrale

The project is led by Illustri, the Vicenza association known for its international illustration festival, with Francesco Poroli as its president. Four partners contribute to the new venue: APS Dialog, Comuda APS, Cicletica APS and Bucce Studio, bringing different perspectives on culture, creativity, social participation and community life. The five year agreement with the City of Vicenza runs from October 2026 to September 2031. For travellers interested in contemporary illustration, independent art spaces and creative destinations in northern Italy, La Centrale adds a new cultural address to Vicenza's UNESCO city.
