VICENZA · ITALIAN FOOD & SWEET EXPERIENCES

Vicenza’s Cherry Gelato and Aperitivo

Cherry cake, Italian gelato and an aperitivo made with Vicenza’s protected IGP cherries. Three reasons for a sweet afternoon in the northern Italian countryside.

Pasticceria Nuova Pianezzola in Marostica, in the northern province of Vicenza, offers three ways to enjoy the local Ciliegia di Marostica IGP: cherry cake, gelato and even a cherry aperitivo. A particularly good address to remember during the spring harvest, when Vicenza’s cherry growing hills are at their most delicious. [1]

ABOUT

An afternoon in Vicenza’s cherry country can begin with cake and end with an aperitivo. At Pasticceria Nuova Pianezzola, the protected Ciliegia di Marostica IGP appears in traditional cakes, cherry gelato and an aperitivo made with the local fruit. [1] The pastry shop is in Marostica, a town in the northern province of Vicenza, famous for its giant chessboard in Piazza Castello. Visit during the May and June cherry season, ideally after exploring the town and its surrounding hills. Ask which cherry specialities are available on the day.
