A wine visit through vineyards, Palladian farm buildings, old greenhouses and a frescoed pheasant house
Vineyards, frescoed garden buildings, historic greenhouses and five organic wines inside the same agricultural estate
Palladio wrote about the wine and fruit produced here in the sixteenth century. Nearly five centuries later, the vineyards still belong to the estate and their wines can be tasted in the old barrel room. The visit reaches far beyond the famous architecture, through working courtyards, a frescoed pheasant house, nineteenth century greenhouses, the historic brolo and vines growing within the walls.

About
Start among Palladio’s agricultural buildings and follow the estate through gardens, nineteenth century greenhouses, a frescoed pheasant house, the old brolo and vineyards enclosed by the property walls. The route ends in the cellar with five organic wines made from those vines, on land Palladio was already praising for wine and fruit nearly five centuries ago. Organic tastings can be booked at the estate with local food available alongside.
THE STORY
In 1570, Palladio described Angarano in The Four Books of Architecture as a place celebrated for its precious wines and fruit.
Today five Bianchi Michiel sisters run the family estate and its organic winery, Le Vie Angarano, around the surviving Palladian barchesse. The central house came later, while Palladio’s agricultural wings remain part of the UNESCO listed villa.
A visit goes well beyond the architecture: through the old agricultural court, nineteenth century park, historic greenhouses, a frescoed pheasantry, ancient stables and the brolo, the walled productive garden typical of Veneto estates, opening directly onto the vineyards.
Then taste the present version of a wine story Palladio was already writing about in 1570. Organic tastings can be booked at the estate, with local Asiago DOP and Soprèssa Vicentina DOP available alongside.
