Where books for Taschen, Bloomsbury and the Venice Biennale take physical form
Inside the printing house behind books for Taschen, Bloomsbury and the Venice Biennale
Some of the books that land on museum tables, collectors’ shelves and design studios around the world are printed and bound in Vicenza. Graphicom has produced projects for Taschen, Bloomsbury, The Folio Society and La Biennale di Venezia, from Star Wars and Harry Potter to limited editions of Dune and major exhibition catalogues.

SINCE 1986
Founded in Vicenza in 1986 as an independent print broker specialising in illustrated publishing, the company expanded its production capabilities by acquiring Legatoria Camisana in 1996 and ArteGrafica in 1998. These acquisitions helped establish its reputation among international galleries and heritage institutions.
FROM IDEA TO FINISHED BOOK
The entire production process is managed in house, from project consulting and prepress proofing to printing, binding, and worldwide shipping. The current facility operates 27 printing units, while the bindery handles everything from standard trade paperbacks to intricate boxed sets comprising multiple volumes and components.
Where are Taschen art books printed in Italy?
Graphicom in Vicenza has produced Taschen titles including The Star Wars Archives and Japanese Woodblock Prints. Vicenza’s cultural reach extends to the production of some of the world’s most prestigious books. Graphicom collaborates with international publishers, museums, galleries, and independent designers, producing everything from substantial illustrated monographs to rare collector’s editions.
STAR WARS AT XXL SCALE
For Taschen, the firm produced The Star Wars Archives 1977–1983, a volume of 604 pages measuring 41.1 centimetres across, bound in cloth with foil blocking. A similarly demanding production was Taschen’s Japanese Woodblock Prints, an expansive survey incorporating 17 large foldouts.
HARRY POTTER, FROM EXHIBITION TO BOOK
When Bloomsbury published Harry Potter: A History of Magic to accompany the British Library exhibition on the history and folklore behind the series, it entrusted production to the Vicenza firm. The finished hardback of 256 pages is a notable example in the company’s portfolio of complex book projects.
Who prints Venice Biennale catalogues?
Graphicom has produced several publications for La Biennale di Venezia, including the 2022 Biennale Arte and Biennale Teatro catalogues. The firm has worked with La Biennale di Venezia on several catalogue projects. For the 59th International Art Exhibition in 2022, it handled the printing, binding, and custom slipcase for The Milk of Dreams, a major work comprising two volumes of 752 and 248 pages. That same year, it produced ROT for the 50th Biennale Teatro, a catalogue featuring die cut index notches, metallic laminations, and alternating paper stocks within a single binding.
