Indoor skating in Vicenza
The indoor skatepark built by volunteers and recycled materials
An indoor skatepark built with recycled materials, with lessons, free skate, punk gigs, jams, exhibitions and workshops.
In Vicenza’s eastern industrial district, ring the bell at number 689 and a warehouse opens onto ramps, rails and a miniramp largely built by skaters themselves. Fucina opened in 2024 after months of volunteer work, using donated and recycled materials. Today it hosts Stalefish skate lessons, free skate sessions, jams, exhibitions, workshops and live music, making it one of the clearest addresses for contemporary youth culture in the city.

→ Built by skaters
Fucina opened in March 2024 after months of volunteering work by members of Vicenza’s skate community. Salad Days reported that much of the material used for the park came from recycled pieces donated by skaters, students and friends. The name, Fucina, literally means “forge”, which fits a space that keeps producing things beyond skateboarding: boards on ramps, bands beside them, exhibitions, workshops and collaborative events.
→ Skate through the rain
Stalefish opened Fucina specifically to give Vicenza an indoor place to skate throughout the year. Its current programme uses the park for both children’s and adult lessons, while poor weather can shift sessions from the outdoor parks to Fucina. For visiting skaters, that makes it particularly useful on rainy days or outside the best outdoor season. Contact the school before travelling to confirm free skate availability, lessons and whether equipment is required.
→ Beginners, adults and surfskate
Stalefish runs skateboard teaching for different ages and levels, including adult sessions. Its published timetable currently includes classes at Fucina during the week, and private lessons are also available. Surfskate teaching ranges from beginner carving to intermediate power surfing. Anyone visiting Vicenza for only a few days should ask directly whether a single lesson or private session can be arranged, rather than assuming enrolment in a full course is necessary.
→ Punk beside the miniramp
Fucina also works as a small live music and cultural venue. Salad Days lists concerts, jams, exhibitions and workshops among its uses, and recent programming has included punk and garage bands performing inside the skatepark itself. That mixture is the reason not to describe Fucina merely as “an indoor sports facility”. Depending on the evening, you may find free skate, a lesson, a workshop or amplifiers beside the ramps.
→ Workshops with a board nearby
The programme has also included creative workshops. One published event combined hand painted T shirts with a final hour of skate instruction; another women’s meet up combined beginner and advanced lessons with free skate and pizza. These are examples of past programming, not permanent weekly activities, but they show how the space is used.
The recorded example says it best: the wheat under the snow s’ingavàssa. It meant putting down roots and becoming lush.
